What's New on the Podcast in June 2019?

What's New

What's New on the Podcast in June 2019?

We have a ton of stuff new for June and it’s going to be an exciting month. You will not believe the stuff going on from getting through road check which happens June 4th through to improving your health and becoming a better driver. We start off with some tips coming from an ex MTO inspection officer and Andy Malion to get you through Road Check.

We’ve got a new sponsor on with us with Rims Transport which you will hear a lot more about. They haul steel and are located in various locations around Ontario and Quebec but the main terminal is in Hamilton Ontario. They're looking for owner operators so if you are into hauling steel and you're an owner operator and not afraid to cross the border, then you certainly want to be looking at a company like Rims Transport. You will hear more about them as the month goes on. Thank you to Rims Transport for coming on board.

Guests This Month

We have some exciting guests on the show this month. I believe that truck drivers are not just lazy truck drivers but some very talented and dedicated people and it's amazing to see what they can do. I have to tell you we got we got some great guests starting with the next show. We start with Chris Hensel, he played Jeb Duke on the Dukes of Hazzard television show. You probably remember the Dukes of Hazzard was one of the top shows on the networks in the 70’s and 80s. He’s now creating a new movie for the trucking industry and he's looking for trucking companies to be a part of the movie.

We're going to be talking with Kelly Mack McCoy from San Antonio, Texas, He’s a truck driver turned author and wrote a book called Rough Way to the Highway. It’s a fictional book about a truck driver who gets into all kinds of issues on the road. We talked to him about his book and how he became an author. Do not think that people in the trucking industry don't have passion or cannot do anything more than just jam gears my friends. Kelly connected me on to another author named Robert Stevens Jr. Robert’s also an author / truck driver and you might think that this is kind of crazy having these two authors on The Lead Pedal Podcast. Robert Stevens Jr. is a truck driver for 16 years, but you may know his name from professional football because he was in the NFL European league and also some of the teams in the NFL. He created a line of sportswear for football players, he's working on his third novel and does all of that while he's driving a truck so don't tell me that you don't have time or you don't have the you energy to get stuff done. You’ve got to listen to this guy, he’s six foot eight, 425 pounds, and we had so much fun talking with him about what's going in his life.

Health

We’re still improving our health and we've been doing the Healthy Trucker health challenges. It ends at the end of June and we're still following Andrea Morley’s tips and mini health challenges each week. If you're not part of the health challenge but you still want to get fit you can go to The Lead Pedal Podcast website and click on health and fitness category. I've been making a video every week and the videos are on our website page.

We are going to be talking to a guy named Chris Nerat. Chris is a fitness enthusiast and professional trainer working for Caterpillar. The cool thing about his exercise program is he does it in the cab of a truck so you can actually see how they're done and he's got a whole program we're going to talk to him about to be more fit on the road. Look for that in Episode Number 332 which is going to be coming up mid June.

By the way we have somebody who's taken fitness to the next level. Kimberly Biback is a lady who works for Sharp Transportation here in Ontario and is taking exercising to a whole new level. She's in great shape and very strong as she is training for the Baycrest Sealfit Challenge. She’s doing a challenge training like the Navy Seals and the challenges she is working on is out of this world. We’re going to be talking to Kimberly about what she's doing for training and we met up with her in her gym with her coach. She’s doing some amazing things so keep going Kimberly, we're behind you, That’s in mid June on episode 333.

We continue with health, this time on sleep apnea. Sleep apnea has been a big issue in the trucking industry and is something a lot of truck drivers get caught into if overweight. We talk to Rob Pierce who is with a sleep apnea clinic here in Ontario. We talked to him about what people should be looking for and how you can start checking to see if you have those symptoms. We find out what you should do about testing and some of the products available and how to determine which one is right for you. We will be talking to Rob more towards the end of the month as we've got so much content going on. I've been doing interviews like crazy.

We talk with David Benjatschek at the end of June. David is a professional speaker and photographer in the trucking industry. We had a fun interview and we're going to call this one, trains, planes, and automobiles because everything went by us as we were by the airport. We a had a garbage truck almost run me over. David and I talk about how to be a better driver so make sure that you join us for the last episode in June which is Episode 335 with David.

So that's what we’ve got coming up in the month of June. These are all amazing interviews and you are going to laugh all the way through June.

Thanks for listening,

Bruce
