Focuses on Truck Driver
Professionalism
One of the reasons we started The Lead Pedal Podcast was to promote the trucking industry in a positive light. As former truck drivers ourselves we know the hard work and dedication it takes to be good at this job and keep the wheels turning successfully. Professional drivers are much more than just truck drivers getting the load from one destination to another, in fact talk to many of them and that’s the easy part. It’s what they do above and beyond the job description that makes them true professional drivers.
For instance in episode 634 we talked about a number of professional women drivers that have won awards this year. Women are becoming a prominent force in the industry as technology makes the trucks more comfortable and easier to handle. The trucking industry is one of the few industries that the the pay is equal to what the men get as fleets pay everyone the same across the board. As carriers aim to attract more people into the industry they are getting creative with trip planning allowing for shorter runs and flexible start times. These are all issues attractive to female truck drivers in our industry.
We talked with Highway Angel Travis Smallwood about how he saved someone from a bad accident that he came across on his travels. The Highway Angel Award is awarded to truck drivers that have stepped up to help someone in a deadly situation. We talked with Travis about his award in episode 635.
We talked with truck driver Gio of Rosedale Transport this month about professionalism on the road and what makes a good professional truck driver. Have a listen to this impressive truck driver and what he says are important to any driver.
Have you ever wondered what type of professionalism it takes to transport some of the biggest musical acts in the country on their concert tours? We find out in episode 629 when we talk with the team at Upstaging about what type of truck driver is best suited to that type of work and some of the stories on being part of the biggest tours in the business.
Truck driver professionalism can offer a person opportunities and a career with some of the best carriers in the business. Being a professional driver is more than just getting the truck and load down the road. It is customer service, being on time, and much more. Listen to the interviews and find out why this job is not for the faint of heart.
